The Liberty City United Fund is a non-profit organization located in the Sabine Independent School District encompassing portions of Kilgore and Gladewater, Texas. The purpose of the organization is fully stated in the mission statement as follows:
"To increase the community's capacity to care for one another" by providing the means by which a cross section of citizens and businesses may join in an effort to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of human service programs.
This corporation is organized exclusively for charitable purposes, including, for such purposes, to receive contributions and pay them over to organizations that are described in section 501(c)(3) and exempt from taxation under section 501(a), or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.
